Inspired by our friend Nathan Nguyen Luu, this statement stands true for all those with ASD. Whether it be to make people laugh, organising things, recalling stuff, morale support, boosting other's confidence, developing apps, making stuff.... we all have a Superpower that can help the greater cause and others around.
Our Social Enterprise Business Model
Our business model is unique and leverages Urban Maker's product design and development strengths. With a focus on generating our own intellectual property via original product designs, coupled with leveraging the unique licenced designs of others. We operate our own online store where products manufactured by Urban Maker are sold and funds raised go towards the #innovationforASD community program.
During this early stage, all profits are being redirected back into the business as part of our growth strategy.
Employment opportunities
Inherent to the business design, is the ability to generate jobs for our ASD community of innovators. This is part of our plan to scale, and we really think is a great by-product of success, generating an employment stream that both develops individuals with skills matching those required for our manufacturing industry, while providing solid employment opportunity for the participant.
Initial beginnings
Urban Maker began in 2020 as an underground creative endeavour during the height of the COVID pandemic. Our aim is to unite Australian Makers and Innovators through the power of digital social networks to support and inspire one another, no matter our abilities.
